Leadership Montgomery County is a joint project of the Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce and the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce. The mission of LMC is to develop and promote the future leadership for Montgomery County by enhancing current business and community leaders while identifying and developing emerging leaders.
Applicants or their employer must be members of one of the five recognized Chambers of Commerce in Montgomery County. Applications are available at any Chamber of Commerce office in Montgomery County, and must be completed and returned to the address on the form by June 16 for consideration for enrollment in the fall class. Thirty-five of the applicants will be chosen to participate in the LMC program.
Basic criteria in the selection process include:
- Individuals who show a sincere commitment, motivation and interest in serving in the community
- Individuals who have demonstrated leadership in community activities
- Individuals who show potential of existing opportunities for advancement to leadership positions within their own organization or company, which may in turn play a significant role in the community.
- Individuals with the intent to serve on boards, commissions, or in any key volunteer leadership roles
- Individuals seeking long-term involvement in Montgomery County
Completed application (4 COPIES) must be submitted to one of the Chambers of Commerce listed on the application with application fee by June 16. This is not an exercise to determine your ability to manipulate documents or enhance this document through formatting or other means. Just complete the document. This document is currently less than 7 pages, please keep it at about this length. Use more space if required but try not to be excessive.
This combined Leadership Class is sponsored by the Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce and the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber. Tuition is $800 for the nine-month program, and includes a weekend retreat, meals, transportation and materials.
Once each class is selected, the participants design a group project. These community contributions are very diverse, and have included forming an LMC Alumni Association, developing a LMC Web site, Town Hall meetings to acquaint voters with the Bond Referendum for improvements within the county, and a Career Day for Sophomore high school students selected from county schools, renovation of the Fairway Home, a project of Montgomery County Youth Services, publishing a Resource Guide for Senior Adults, the process of formation of an LMC Foundation, and renovation of the San Jacinto House, a facility of Tri-County Mental Health/Mental Retardation.
