About the SUMMIT

The Leadership Summit is one of LMC’s signature events, bringing our mission of leadership development and meaningful connection to the broader Montgomery County community. Open to all - LMC alumni and non-alumni alike - the Summit offers a full day of professional and leadership development designed to inspire participants to better serve our community. Each year, the Summit highlights one of LMC’s core values. Past themes have included Character Counts, It’s We, Not Me, and Lifetime Learning. This year’s theme, We’re In on What’s Up - We Stay Relevant and Informed, emphasizes the importance of staying engaged in a rapidly changing world. Great leaders don’t simply react to change - they anticipate it by remaining curious, connected, and informed. Our dynamic speakers will share practical insights, diverse perspectives, and interactive experiences that challenge attendees to think strategically and lead with clarity and impact. We invite you to join us, and to bring your leadership team, board members, or others in your network, for a day of learning, connection, and growth. Register now, this year's Summit will be on Friday, August 28.

Nominate a Servant Leader!

Some leaders make the news. Others quietly make a difference.

At the Summit, LMC will honor a servant leader whose character, dedication and commitment to others are creating meaningful change in our community. Who comes to mind? Consider someone who empowers others, leads with humility and empathy, builds trust and consistently puts service before recognition. Nominees do not need to be LMC graduates. Help us give an extraordinary community leader the recognition they deserve.

Nominations close August 14.

In 2005, he and his wife, Jennifer, launched the first edition of Community Impact Newspaper from the game room of their home, delivering it to residents of Round Rock and Pflugerville, Texas.

Two decades later, Community Impact is the largest local news organization in Texas, reaching readers across 37 editions in the Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Houston metros with 2 million print editions each month and 250,000 email newsletters each day. The company has earned more than 100 journalism, design and advertising awards, ranked seven consecutive years on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies, and was named one of Forbes' Best Small Companies.

John's own recognitions include Austin's Best Small Business CEO from the Austin Business Journal, a Lifetime Achievement Award from RecognizeGood for Ethics in Business and Community, and an Excellence in Leadership Award from Concordia University.

John and Jennifer met at Pflugerville High School and both earned their degrees from Sam Houston State University. They remain the company's sole owners and are active in their community.
